Debt Advice Foundation Debt Advice Foundation.  At the heart of this charity’s philosophy is the prevention and cure of consumer debt problems in the UK.  Includes access to some great debt tools, including Debt Analyser, Budget Planner, Benefit Entitlement, Credit Rating Checker etc.


Citizens Advice Bureau Citizens Advice service helps people resolve their legal, money and other problems by providing free, independent and confidential advice, and by influencing policymakers. 


Consumer Direct Consumer Direct is the government-funded consumer advice service. It offers free information and advice on problems with goods and services, energy and post.


National Debtline National Debtline offer debt advice for people living in different parts of the country. This is because the law concerning debt varies depending on whether you live in England and Wales or Scotland. You can be confident that the advice they offer is targeted to you.

 


Consumer Credit Counselling Service Consumer Credit Counselling Service is a registered charity that help over 500,000 people each year to understand money and take control of their own finances. More than 250,000 people use their debt counselling service. 


Trading Standards Trading Standards have regionally based advisors who are specially trained to give practical advice on all kinds of consumer issues - from problems with cars to faulty household appliances. 


Office of Fair Trading Office of Fair Trading is a Government Agency set up to enforce both consumer protection and competition law by acting as the UK's economic regulator. The OFT's goal is to make markets work well for consumers, ensuring vigorous competition between fair-dealing businesses and prohibiting unfair practices such as rogue trading, scams and cartels. 


Financial Services Authority Financial Services Authority have been given a wide range of rule-making, investigatory and enforcement powers in order to meet five statutory objectives.  In meeting these, they are also obliged to have regard to the Principles of Good Regulation. 


Financial Ombudsman Financial Ombudsman's job to settle individual complaints that consumers and financial businesses haven't been able to resolve themselves.  Set up by parliament to do this, as independent experts, their service is free to consumers.
